Republicans beginning to see that Bush is a failure
 Written: 09/20/04
Honest and decent Republicans who have real reasons to understand and protect our troops in Iraq are now beginning to tell it like it is. No need for any spin from supposed liberal media channels. These are the words of serious, respected and experienced Republicans who are questioning the carelessness of this soon-to-be-voted-out Bush administration.

The fact is, we are in deep trouble in Iraq...and I think we are going to have to look at some recalibration of policy.
- Senator Chuck Hagel (R) Nebraska, on CBS Face The Nation.

We made serious mistakes.
- Senator John McCain (R) Arizona, on Fox News Sunday

This is the incompetence in the administration.
- Senator Richard Lugar (R) Indiana, on ABC This Week

All these quotes are from September 19, 2004.

What is interesting is how Hagel and McCain are also Vietnam veterans who have gone under the devious wrath of the negative campaigning and character assassination of Karl Rove.

Karl Rove and his ilk do not like those who served this country. He has proven it time and again. Bush may have Karl Rove as his brain, but we can see that it may indeed be the ghostly return of Lee Atwater and his cancerous head, soon to be buried again.

Rove learned his dirty tricks from Lee Atwater and we may indeed see the same result that Atwater was bestowed. God knows what to do to the bad guys. As much as Rove would like to falsely paint the Repuglican Party as The Party of God, only God knows what He will do to furnish Mr. Rove with his probable demise. If his deeds match his deserved moments in his final act, surely it will not be pretty.

If Republican leaders like Hagel, McCain and Luger can face the truth and see the light, then there is certainly hope for this country.

Cheney sinks to new low to get the paranoid, tinfoil hat vote
 Written: 09/08/04
Cheney and the Bush campaign came to an even lower low that was concievable at this point.

Using a pathetic excuse of a campaign to further deeply dig into the muck of hate-filled mud slinging, Cheney said in Des Moines on September 8th about the consequences of not voting for Bush and Cheney:
...the danger is that we will get hit again, and we will be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States.

Can this desperate draft-dodging chickenhawk sink any deeper?

Would Bush grow some balls and ask Cheney to apologize? No way. Bush believes it too.

Zig Zag Zell Proves He Is a GOP Dupe
 Written: 09/07/04
Zell Miller said this about John Kerry in 2001:
In his 16 years in the Senate, John Kerry has fought against government waste and worked hard to bring some accountability to Washington. Early in his Senate career in 1986, John signed on to the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Deficit Reduction Bill, and he fought for balanced budgets before it was considered politically correct for Democrats to do so. John has worked to strengthen our military, reform public education, boost the economy and protect the environment.

Good for you, Zell. At that time, you made sense. But then our fairweather friend Zell zig-zagged into a murky darkness.

Zell Miller made a very dishonest speech at the Republican Convention and later blew up on various talk and news shows that dared to question his gaps in the truth.

Miller is also very dishonest about his true party affiliation. Having been appointed as a Senator in 2000 after the death of a Republican senator in Georgia, Miller has proven to actually be more conservative than even many moderate Republican senators.

Zig Zag Zell has written a disengenuous and dishonest book (for which this writer will not give credit) where he poses as a Democrat who favors Republican ideas. Perhaps he is too scared to change party affiliations or maybe he wants to exploit the fact that he is technically a Democrat adoring right-wing prinicples.

Zig Zag Zell knows that if he really showed his true colors as a Republican, he could not brag about how many copies of the books he has sold. This would be yet another yawner to find out a Republican does not like Democratic party values.

Zell Miller can now know his legacy will be nothing more than an angry old, bitter and manipulated marine who turns in a war hero with lies and deception and is duped by Karl Rove and the Bush Lie Machine of Project For A New American Century Chickenhawks.

So long, Zig Zag Zell. Your beginnings as a segregationist has shown us that you have come full circle in ignorance and petulant hate-mongering.

It is a shame you decided to leave us with your legacy as a pathetic, lying turncoat armed with lies and deceit. Perhaps you are a combination of the hate of George Wallace and the spirit of Benedict Arnold.

You actually are not even worth that horrible print in the eyes of history. Good riddance.

Swift Boat Liars for Bush Attack All Veterans, Not Just Kerry
 Written: 08/11/04
If a military record has anything to do with being fit to be commander-in-chief, just signing up for duty to serve in Vietnam puts John Kerry way ahead of the questionable and murky military record of Bush and the deferrment-laced cowardice of Cheney combined.

If Bush and Cheney like putting Kerry and his war record under scrutiny, surely they would not mind a little examination of Bush and his year of being missing from his post and Cheney and his choice to be a chickenhawk coward back in the Vietnam days. Perhaps the Bush shills at Fox News are ready to put under their magnifying glass the records of their boys George and Dick.

Additionally, challenging the intellect, complex review procedures and wisdom exercised in awarding Purple Hearts by our military is now under question and is indeed sending a message to the troops abroad that their valor in battle could be later questioned, nitpicked, lied about and ballyhooed for political gain by the funding of chickenhawks too cowardly to put their lives on the line for freedom or at least their convictions.

Should Bob Dole inspect the injured and maimed soldiers returning from Iraq and question and inspect them to see if they are injured enough for his bitter tastes? This question could be asked due to his recent tirade that Kerry was not injured enough or dead from his battles. This is particularly disgusting coming from a veteran who has long worked with and respected Kerry and his military record. Does Dole need more Viagra to think correctly?

It is pretty inevitable that all this Swift Boat Band of Liars buffoonery is going to backfire and boomerang back to the Bush-Cheney-Rove negative campaign. Some talking points that can be pretty understand are:
  • NONE of the people in the ad served with John Kerry. ZERO.

  • Louis Letson, who says he treated Kerry and his injury for his first
Purple Heart is a bald-faced LIAR. The injury was treated by J. C. Carreon, whose signature is on the record.

  • Bush campaign top lawyer Benjamin Ginsberg resigned after having given legal advice to the SBVFT even though the Bush administration denied any links to the group.

  • Al French may have to resign his job because he signed an affidavit saying he saw what he actually heard from his friends.

  • As many as 25% of the names of veterans used by these liars were used WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION and they were not told their names would be used in the list of veterans against Kerry.

  • Swift Boat Veterans for Truth members Lt. Commander Grant Hibbard and Lt. Commander George Elliott previously had spoken favorably of Kerry and his service in the past and had campaigned with Kerry in 1996.

  • Hoffman had no firsthand knowledge to discredit Kerry and his claims to valor and said that although while Kerry was under his command, he really did not know Kerry much personally.

  • John ONeill, the founder of SBVFT, was initially hired by the Nixon administration to counter Vietnam protesters and to go after Kerry back during the war. He is also a heavy contributor to the Republican Party. He denies any link to the Republican party, although he had given $40,000 worth of contributions to the GOP. Additionally, he has been caught up in a LIE about how he accused Kerry of not being in Cambodia around Christmas 1968. However, the Ghost of Richard Nixon reared his head via a tape recording where ONeil said when asked that he was in Cambodia and worked along the border. So ONeil was caught in yet another lie.

  • Larry Thurlow received a Bronze Star for being under fire in the exact conflict that Kerry was in, yet he lied that Kerry did not deserve his medals because there was no fire.

  • The US Navy awards military medals go through a series of approval processes and do not take awarding soldiers with medals lightly. So by this fact, the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are showing their utter disrespect for our military and defame all the medals awarded to those that heroically served our country. Perhaps these people and those that say that Kerry also only spent time on a carrier want to explain to those now on carriers that their service to this country is sub-heroic and not a big deal.

  • These Band of Liars prove that they are not friends of the same Constitution and First Amendment they fought for by finding dissent to be seen as an unpatriotic act that America and democracy stands for.

  • By targeting Kerry for making a stand against the evils of the Vietnam War (and having Nixon appoint fundraiser John ONeil, who DID NOT SERVE with Kerry), they prove they are enemies of democracy and the freedom to dissent. ONeil, who openly lies that he is not a Republican, has been a major contributor to ONLY Republican candidates. Perhaps liars like ONeil cannot keep track of the trail of lies he has spewed over the years.

  • Many of the same vets in the ad praised Kerry back when their memory was fresh of Kerry and his service. One of the disgusting liars in the ad, George Elliot, who dared to be in the ad and then retract his attack (and then retract his retraction) said in 1969:
In a combat environment often requiring independent, decisive action, LTJG Kerry was unsurpassed. He constantly reviewed tactics and lessons learned in river operations and applied his experience at every opportunity.

  • Bob Perry, a major supporter of President Bush and the Republican Party and fellow Texan, gave $100,000 to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. Other major Republican donors have funded this little charade as well. Any illusions that this is an independent group is another pitiful lie.

These vets need treatment for delusional mental disorders and paranoia at a VA hospital near them.

Hopefully the local VA hospital where they need treatment is not one that
has been closed down by the Bush administration.

Bush and Cheney prove cowardice and secrecy are the norm with 911 Commission Report
 Written: 07/25/04
Bush is a proven coward. He is also an unconvincing liar. So is Cheney. Combined with their deep love for secrecy, they make a perfect pathetic team that shames our democractic principles. Secrecy, cowardice and deception have been the common ingredients with the White House.

The 911 Commission Report is another perfect example of the continuing pattern of cowardly, secretive lies that the Bush/Cheney ticket offer to America this election year.

First of all, Bush and Cheney childishly fought tooth and nail to not have an investigation of one of the worst tragedies that has happened to the United States. No investigation? Are you joking, Mr. President and Vice President?

After much prodding and cajoling, Bush did finally allow for a bi-partisan investigation where he appointed the committee members. The parameters of the investigation were given a short timeframe and allowed for the interviews with Bush and Cheney to continue to show the pattern of cowardice, secrecy and ability to cover up with lies.

When Bush and Cheney were interviewed, their testimony was not under oath, there was to be no actual recording made of the testimony and a stenographer was not allowed to be there to record a transcript. Pure cowardice. Pure secrecy. Pure corruption. Again and again.

What value is their interview historically with the American people, who deserve a right to know why the ball was dropped and why 911 was allowed to happen under Bush and Cheney watch.

Then to further show the pattern of cowardice, secrecy and a possible cover-up of the events leading up to 911, the Bush administration was allowed to comb over the results of the investigation and take out anything they deemed unacceptable or damning of their failures.

Bush and Cheney would rather have the CIA be the fall guy for the events leading to 911 as well as for the lies they spewed about the Iraqi WMD threat leading up to the unilateral PNAC-fueled war. I hope the CIA takes care of this issue and renders and deploys the response needed to show them they are playing with fire.

It is not a matter or a possibility that Bush or Cheney have the testicular fortitude to come clean and be honest on the matters leading up to 911. The only solution is to send their cowardly, secretive hides out of the White House.

Bush and his imminent terror threat puffery considers stopping the election
 Written: 07/07/04
If it cannot get more odd or more predictable, the White House is now considering what to do to stop the election in the fall.

Q: On Ridge and his security warnings, can the President today guarantee Americans that no terrorist attack can upset the U.S. elections this November, that they will go ahead as planned?

MR. McCLELLAN: Ann, I do not think anyone can make guarantees. But the full intention is to move forward and hold those elections. I do not know specific information related to election day or any other of the high profile events that we have coming up. What we can guarantee to the American people is that we will continue to take strong steps to make sure that we are doing a better job every day of protecting the homeland and enhancing protective measures in certain areas of the country. And we will continue waging the war on terrorism, on the offensive, to defeat the terrorists. That is what we will continue to do.

It seems innocuous until you realize this administration has done nothing well except be perfect liars, war-profiteering con artists and snivelling chickenhawks. Should they be trusted? Only if you are a fool willing to let the liars lie again.

By mere accidental consequences, whenever the polls are bad for Bush, you can count on Homeland Security King Tom Ridge and John Ashcroft to send out some murky message about impending attacks. They do not change the alertness color for fear of actually making it official for cities to mobilize.

Now with this news, it is almost like it would be nice for a little attack to happen. As long as Bush and his poll numbers continue to sink, the Ridge-Ashcroft Fear Machine Show will be making news alerts to change the subject. Having spent $100 million attacking Kerry in negative ads full of lies and distortions is not enough to get Bush up in many polls.

Between having the error-prone Diebold voting machines being owned by a Bush supporter who has pledged to help Bush win in the fall and this new story of possible martial law techniques to withold and disrupt the democractic process and the election, we really need to look closely at this admnistration with every turn and twist as this story unfolds.

This is no time to read the childlike book My Pet Goat and let them get away with their agenda. The real terrorists may indeed be in the White House. If terrorists are defined as using fear and intimidation to get their evil way, then we know who the Original Evil Doers are.

We need to vote them out. If we get to vote.

The GOP tries to demonize John Edwards in desparate and continuing negative attacks
 Written: 06/07/04
Listening to Rush Limbaugh and his formerly overmedicated mind try to smash together dirt and cherry-picked quotes directly read from the GOP.com web site, I could think of no more pitiful of a display than that. Here is a guy who trajects the message of the GOP as the only sanctimonious keeper of precious American family values, yet his three divorces and impending legal problems from buying prescription drugs in the black market and lying about it are somehow to be ignored.

Then after hearing the same Edwards-bashing from Rupert Murdoch-appointed squaking Bush shill, Sean Hannity, who literally was reading the same charges and accusations that he got from the Drudge web site, it became apparent to me that these guys are falling perfectly into the trap. Sean does know how to read well. Just hand him his talking points and he will pepper in with his own brand of ex-jock, jingoistic knucklehead simplicity.

Rush and Sean (and all the others) can not get over themselves that they get to attack Edwards like a couple of school yard tattletales. All this dirt on Edwards has been carefully picked from months of research from Karl Rove. The message is to demonize Edwards and make the average voter think he is possibly even more demonous than Kerry.

Somehow people are supposed to think that Dick Cheney, a gleaming example of corruption, lies and war profiteering, is a better choice than someone who basically is a moderate Democrat.

The constant attack that Edwards does not have enough foreign policy to be President can simply be countered with the fact that he has been on the Foreign Relations Committee and has met many foreign leaders. Add that there was some governor from Texas who ran in 2000 who had never even left the United States before, let alone had a lick of foreign policy experience.

The level of negative campaigning by the GOP, Karl Rove, the spawned Bush shills that pollute the media and the willing apologists for the Bush-Cheney regime will come back to haunt them.

They are falling perfectly into the trap. Maybe someone needs to remind these people that Abraham Lincoln was a trial lawyer.

Eight lawyers became both Vice President and President: 4 Republicans, 2 Whigs, 1 Federalist, and 1 Democrat.

John Adams (F) Vice President 1789-1797; President 1797-1801
Martin Van Buren (D) 1833-1837; President 1837-1841
John Tyler (W) Vice President 1841; President 1841-1845
Millard Fillmore (W) Vice President 1849-1850; President 1850-1853
Chester Arthur (R) Vice President 1881; President 1881-1885
Calvin Coolidge (R) Vice President 1921-1923; President 1823-1929
Richard Nixon (R) Vice President 1953-1961; President 1969-1974
Gerald Ford (R) Vice President 1973-1974; President 1974-1977

If you include Grover Cleveland only once, fifteen lawyers have held the Presidency, but not the Vice Presidency: six Democrats, six Republicans, and three Democratic-Republicans.

James Madison (DR) 1809-1817
James Monroe (DR) 1817-1825
John Quincy Adams (DR) 1825-1829
James K. Polk (D) 1845-1849
Franklin Pierce (D) 1853-1857
James Buchanan (D) 1857-11861
Abraham Lincoln (R) 1861-1865
Rutherford B. Hayes (R) 1877-1881
James A. Garfield (R) 1881
Grover Cleveland (D) 1885-1889, 1893-1897
Benjamin Harrison (R) 1889-1893
William McKinley (R) 1897-1901
William H. Taft (R) 1909-1913
Woodrow Wilson (R) 1913-1921
Franklin D. Roosevelt (D) 1933-1945
Bill Clinton (D) 1993-2001

Twenty lawyers became Vice President, but not Chief Executive: ten Democrats, eight Republicans, and three Democratic-Republicans. John Calhoun served as a Democratic-Republican and a Democrat.

Aaron Burr (DR) 1801-1805
Daniel D. Tompkins (DR)1817-1825
John Calhoun (DR/D)1825-1832
Richard M. Johnson (D) 1837-1841
George Dallas (D) 1845-1849
William R.D. King (D) 1853
John C. Breckenridge (D) 1857-1861
Hannibal Hamlin (R) 1861-1865
William Wheeler (R) 1877-1881
Thomas A. Hendricks (D) 1885
Adlai E. Stevenson (D) 1893-1897
Garret Hobart (R) 1897-1899
Charles W. Fairbanks (R) 1905-1909
James Sherman (R) 1909-1913
Thomas R. Marshall (D) 1913-1921
Charles G. Dawes (R) 1925-1929
Charles Curtis (R) 1929-1933
Alben W. Barkley (D) 1949-1953
Spiro T. Agnew (R) 1969-1973

43/75=~57%, so 57% of all the Presidents and Vice Presidents we have had in this country have been lawyers.

Homeland Security Happy Holiday Warnings
 Written: 07/05/04
OK. Apparently an order was issued by the FBI/Homeland Security/Fear Factory Department that we Americans should be very wary of... ice coolers this summer.

Hey, enjoy your summer. Relax. Get a tan. But look out for dark-skinned people that have coolers. They might have a dirty bomb in their potato salad.

Here are some other examples from Homeland Security:
Irregular, loose-fitting clothing not appropriate for warm weather, possibly with protruding bulges or exposed wires or a noticeable chemical odor.

That could describe just about every obese American that you see at a mall. OK, they have a Walkman and are using crappy cologne.

Sweating, mumbling (prayers) or unusually calm and detached behavior. In addition, people who refuse to show their hands, possibly to conceal a detonator.

Imagine the horror of seeing someone in the summer sweating. Sweating! Run for your lives! Additionally, when you ask that sweating person who appears to be detached and mumbling to show their hands, they may not cooperate. They might mumble back something about maybe minding your own business.

Disguises, including military, police, medical or firefighter uniforms or someone posing as a pregnant woman.

This warning has to be one of the most ridiculous. If you see someone who appears to be a cop, a fireman, a soldier, a doctor or a pregnant woman, consider yourself in the crosshairs of Al Qaeda. Who do you do? Go up and ask these profile types if they are terrorists. Ask them to show their hands. If they are wearing a bad cologne or appear to be sweating, wave at the guy following you with the sunglasses and earpiece to arrest them immediately.

Large or heavy baggage not appropriate for the location, such as a big duffel bag carried into a restaurant.

Imagine a time like summer when people are travelling a lot. How dare they try to scare the Bejesus out if us by having large duffel bags containing what could be the biggest bomb this side of Prairie du Chien.

Actually, sometimes big bags are in restaurants containing linens and garbage. If you see any of these items, get up from your table, scream at the top of your lungs that there may be a terrorist attack and get in that mini-van and out of there pronto.

Have a great summer, America. Just make sure you do not sweat. That could be the first clue that maybe even you could be a terrorist.

Dick Cheney: Mr. Gutter Mouth displays his corrupt soul
 Written: 07/03/04
Dick felt better after cursing out Senator Patrick Leahey (VT-D) with profanity on the Senate floor, according to what was recorded at yet another soft-focus softball-question Fox News interview.   He also chimed in that his colleagues felt he did the right thing.

No apologies for being a dirtball using profanity from this tough guy.  Mr. Cheney, a man of courage who managed to get five deferrments during the Vietnam War, has a few reasons to be a little edgy these days.

Cheney cussed at Leahey last Thursday after a photo session on Capitol Hill when the vice president told the senator to go f*ck himself.

Dick does not like the heat coming on him with investigations about his precious Halliburton.   The impending loss this fall in the national election must surely make him feel a tad upset too.

Who can blame Dick for being a bit scared these days.   He is worrying about the secret meetings with his Energy Task Force (which had a member of the Taliban attending as well as Kenny Boy Lay), his setting up of secret closed bid contracts for reconstruction in Iraq months before any clue that the Bush administration was going to unilaterally attack Iraq, possible war profiteering charges (which Truman determined as treasonous), investigations on how he may be implicated in the CIA agent outing case and other scandals.

Continuing to lie about the connection between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein to help get the war in Iraq going must surely make him feel bad if he has a conscience.  Seeing the casualties from a war based on lies and deception might take a toll on someone with a conscience.   Then again, Dick has told the American people to f*ck themselves by not allowing records of the secret meetings to be released.

We can imagine what Dick would say to the mother of a soldier who has died from the war this courageous chickenhawk helped start.   He would probably say to her what he said to Leahey if she asked why her son had to die.

I am sure Dick is cussing out all the legal counsel that is telling him that he may indeed be f*cked.

Maybe Dick is mad that his ticker needs a new upgrade. All that pressure watching his career go down in flames is going to take a lot out of Dick.

Poor Dick. Maybe he tells himself he is f*cked all the time these days.

Fahrenheit 9/11 must be seen by everyone, even critics
 Written: 06/30/04
Michael Moore has made another movie that I find is less manipulative than his other movies, where he tends to set people up and then take them down. It is always funny and usually is the best thing to ever happen to those people. But it is usually a tactic in Moore and his style that can be a bit overwrought sometimes.

However, this movie stars George Bush. He is his own worst enemy. The footage of him on the evening of March 19th where he is preparing for his speech and mimicking being a cowboy or some kind of macho twit is both very telling and very troubling. There are many other examples of Bush being an arrogant, clueless anti-leader in the film to convince just about anyone that he is indeed not worthy of being the leader of the Free World.

I have listened to all the right-wing shill radio shows and seen media lightweights like Matt Lauer try to take Michael Moore down. Yeah, Moore is fat. Yeah, Moore does not like Bush. So what!

Every accusation that these shills parrot from RNC talking points can easily be refuted and debunked. What is even more pitiful is that most of these shills have not seen the movie, yet have such strong opinions on what is in the movie.

They have tried to shut down theaters that would show the movie and have tried to stop the movie trailers from airing on TV. Like Moore has said in a recent interview on the Daily Show, please keep bringing up the movie, you shills!

Nothing like free publicity to get even more people curious and get them to see the movie!

Bush campaign uses Hitler for political gain
 Written: 06/30/04
The Bush campaign has decided that misrepresenting Moveon.org and its contest participant that featured a comparison of Bush to Hitler to be fair game in their continuing deceitful patterns of lies and half-truths for political gain.

First of all, the ad is a bit unprofessionally done. The editing is choppy and the soundtrack merging of Hitler with Gore, Kerry, Dean and Moore is amateurish. It immediately reminded me of some of the tinfoil hat pro-Bush web site garbage that pops up on the net. It is another Uncle Mortimer Cheesy Basement Productions crapshoot that should be shared only with the knuckleheads who know the guy personally.

Secondly, the final part of the ad, which purports to tagline that Bush is for positive messages, flies directly in its own face as nothing but a shallow farce. Anyone who has been watching Bush ads knows that it has been nothing but negative and full of distortions about Kerry and his record.

The Kerry campaign responded with this analysis:
The fact that George Bush thinks it’s appropriate to use images of Adolph Hitler in his campaign raises serious questions about his fitness to spend another four years in the White House. Adolph Hitler slaughtered millions of innocent people and has no place in a campaign that is supposed to be about the future and hope of this nation. The President’s use of these images during a month that evoked the memory of World War II is remarkably insensitive to the sacrifices of the millions of people who lost their lives during Hitler’s reign of terror.

The Bush Campaign should immediately remove these hateful images from its website and apologize for using them. The use of Adolph Hitler by any campaign, politician or party is simply wrong.

Do not expect any apologies from the Bush administration. Maybe we should just expect Dick Cheney to tell us to go f*ck ourselves.
